Doctor Who Dons Latest Radio Times Cover
Doctor Who yet again dominates the Christmas edition of Radio Times magazine, this time featuring Peter Capaldi, read on for further details:
This edition covers both the finale of the current series, Hell Bent, and looks forward to the
forthcoming Christmas Special, featuring a three page interview with Steven Moffat, during which he discusses his shyness, how to replace Jenna Coleman and also on taking inspiration from other writers.
"Some things you see on TV are so bad, you think you shouldn’t write for a week in case you’re contaminated. In case it’s got into your head. The sheer rubbishness of the dialogue and story construction. You have to detox. But you read a script by Russell [T Davies] and suddenly everything makes sense in an immaculate, clean way."
Talking about his own eventual departure and on finding on a worthy successor to run the show, Moffat said "That's an issue I'm actively engaged in. Everything is difficult in Doctor Who, including leaving. I'd never leave it in the lurch because it means too much to me. Let's not pretend it's not a big problem. But there will be a solution."
This edition of Radio Times magazine is on sale from 9th December priced £2.50.

2015 Christmas Special - First Promo & Synopsis
The BBC have issued the first promo image and synopsis for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special:
We’re delighted to confirm that Greg Davies and Matt Lucas will be joining Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special!
Greg Davies is the writer and star of Man Down and his appearance in BBC Three’s Cuckoo earned him a Bafta nomination for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme. He played ‘Mr Gilbert’ in The Inbetweeners and is also a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian.
Matt Lucas is a Bafta TV Award winner who shot to prominence as George Dawes in the anarchic game show Shooting Stars. He went onto achieve huge success alongside David Walliams in shows including Little Britain and Come Fly with Me. He’s also featured in hit movies like Shaun of the Dead and Bridesmaids.
Steven Moffat also made the following comments in Radio Times magazine:
On why he decided to bring River back: "We’ve just lost Clara, so I didn’t want to go straight into a new companion. I’ll be honest, I brought River Song back in because I thought there was a possibility I’d never write it [Doctor Who] again so that’d be my goodbye."
On how the pairing with Twelve works: "It’s strange because they’re now, in our human terms, the perfect couple. They’re both sexy older people. It’s always been slightly strange before with Matt Smith. Now, yeah, they could actually be married. It works."
He also added: "If you’re a long term fan of the show you might be interested because there’s been a lot of talk about the Doctor and River’s glory years but we’ve never seen them. Here at last we see them as Mr and Mrs Who at the height of their powers. It’s great fun."
On when in River’s life it takes place: "It doesn’t really matter, but for those who care it’s immediately after The Angels Take Manhattan. River’s just seen Matt Smith’s Doctor lose Amy and Rory, and obviously before The Name of the Doctor because she’s dead in that."
TITLE TBC - by Steven Moffat
It’s Christmas Day on a remote human colony and the Doctor is hiding from Christmas Carols and Comedy Antlers. But when a crashed spaceship calls upon the Doctor for help, he finds himself recruited into River Song’s squad and hurled into a fast and frantic chase across the galaxy.
King Hydroflax is furious, and his giant Robot bodyguard is out-of-control and coming for them all! Will Nardole survive? And when will River Song work out who the Doctor is? All will be revealed on a starliner full of galactic super-villains and a destination the Doctor has been avoiding for a very long time.
The as-of-yet untitled Christmas Special will broadcast on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC One HD, a time is to be confirmed.

Doctor Who Magazine - Issue 493
Panini have issued the cover and details of the next edition of Doctor Who magazine:
WHAT IS TO BECOME OF CLARA OSWALD? DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE PREVIEWS THE AMAZING FINAL EPISODES - IN ISSUE 493!
Doctor Who magazine looks ahead to the dramatic final episodes of the latest series - Sleep No More, Face the Raven, Heaven Sent and Hell Bent, and talks to to the writers of the episodes: Mark Gatiss, Sarah Dollard and showrunner Steven Moffat. We also catch up with the director of the series finale, Rachel Talalay and the Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi…
"The whole episode’s quite big," Peter tells DWM of the twelfth and final episode of the series, Hell Bent. "It’s huge, actually - but also there’s a sadness, a romance, and a tragedy to episode 12," he says. "It’s just so romantic. It’s very effective. And I loved all the stuff on one particular set. I was very excited. It looks so modern - a Kubrick-y kind of vibe. It was very nice. We’re in a very interesting place, because we’re competing with bigger shows, frankly. Most American shows have four times the budget per episode that we have, but that’s what we’re up against. We’re competing with Game of Thrones… This is traditional for Doctor Who, but it goes to show what this amazing production team can achieve."
ALSO INSIDE ISSUE 493…
INSIDE NUMBER 9
DWM reunites League of Gentlemen stars Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith - writer and star respectively of Sleep No More - for an exclusive interview! Plus a chat with guest star Bethany Black.
BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL
Showrunner Steven Moffat answers readers’ questions, and reveals just who the Doctor is talking to when he’s looking directly at the camera…
IMMORTAL WORDS
Poll-winning writer Jamie Mathieson discusses his varied career, including his life as a stand-up comedian, and how his latest episode, The Girl Who Died, came to be.
HIGHWAY TO HELL
Writer Catherine Tregenna talks in-depth to DWM about how she came to write her recent Doctor Who episode, The Woman Who Lived.
BACK TO LIFE
Jacqueline Rayner explains why The Girl Who Died reminded her of the Moxx of Balhoon, her childhood and Dodo in Relative Dimensions.
TALES OF DARKNESS
The Doctor and Clara face terror in the cemetery in their latest terrifying comic strip adventure, The Highgate Horror, by Mark Wright, illustrated by David A Roach.
THE DWM REVIEW
DWM reviews The Girl Who Died, The Woman Who Lived, The Zygon Invasion and The Zygon Inversion. Plus, the latest DVDs, books and audios are put under the spotlight.
