In celebration of Doctor Who's 50th anniversary, the music of the show returns to the Royal Albert Hall in London for the BBC Proms this weekend, read on for further details:
PROMS 2 & 3 - DOCTOR WHO
Doctor Who returns to the Proms to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular BBC series. As well as showcasing Murray Gold’s music from the past eight years, the concert also journeys back to the early days of Doctor Who and the groundbreaking work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Featuring special guests from the series, big screens and a host of monsters ready to invade the Royal Albert Hall, this is not the year to be exterminated!
PROM WILL INCLUDE:
Murray Gold - Music from the Doctor Who series and other music from the series, including the Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 2, Debussy’s La fille aux cheveux de lin and Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
Performed by - the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Ben Foster, the prom includes a host of alien friends and foes plus a very special appearance by Matt Smith.
Tickets for both proms are sold out while over 1,000 "promming" tickets will be available at a first-come-first-serve basis directly before the show priced £5.00 each.
Prom 2 will commence tonight from 7:30pm and end 9:45pm, while Prom 3 will begin tomorrow morning from 10:30am to 12:45pm. Both will feature a 20 minute interval and will also broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. Prom 2 will also be filmed for a future television broadcast.
