To mark the centenary of the legendary Peter Cushing's birth, as well as the release on DVD and Blu-ray of Dr Who and the Daleks and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 AD in which he starred, DWM takes a look at the life of the man who was the big screen Dr Who…

In this weeks Radio Times - Doctor Who - Jenna-Louise Coleman…

On being in the public spotlight:
“Matt warned me that there’s nothing that can prepare you for it. All I can do is enjoy it. I’ve noticed some changes – nothing huge. I have a really cool job and get to do these crazy things and you do have so many ‘pinch me’ moments. I’ve just been sent emails with pics of the Clara doll, which is kind of…”

She hints at the finale of the mystery of the Impossible Girl :
“In the beginning we see a Clara in the 60s, 70s and the 80s so there are a lot of costume changes, which I love. Always one for a bit of dressing up, me. Love a red carpet. Richard E Grant is back with his evil Great Intelligence, the Doctor’s greatest secret is revealed, all of his friends rally round to protect him and we finally understand why the Doctor has met Clara so many different times.”

On working with Matt Smith:
“His first advice was never Google yourself and, now that I’ve got a three-month break, he said take your time and choose your next role carefully. I’ve read loads of scripts but nothing I’m really in love with.”

The rest of the interview can be found in this week's edition of Radio Times magazine: on sale now until 24th May priced £1.10 per copy.

The Name of the Doctor - Leak Scandal

Some American fans of Doctor Who who pre-ordered Series 7: Part 2 on Blu-ray have accidentally received their copies early, a week before the Doctor Who series seven final broadcast. From this, spoilers and plot details from The Name of the Doctor are thought to be posted in forums and comment rooms online as well as becoming a torrent file to download, much to some fans' dismay who would rather wait until the episode's broadcast this Saturday.

Out of this, the BBC tweeted "We understand that a small number of US fans have received in error their DVD edition of Series 7 Part 2 early. We respectfully ask those fans not to divulge information or post content publicly so that fellow fans who have yet to see the episodes do not have their viewing pleasure ruined." They later tweeted "If everyone keeps the secrets safe until next Saturday we will release a special new clip featuring material of the Tenth AND Eleventh Doctor!" Meaning that a clip from the upcoming Doctor Who anniversary special would become available to watch.

Doctor Who: The Name of the Doctor will broadcast this Saturday at 7:00pm on BBC One and BBC One HD in the UK, 9:00pm/8C on BBC America in the US and 8:00pm/5P on Space in Canada. In other news: Steven Moffat has confirmed that an eighth series of Doctor Who is "definite", with pre-production taking place and the episodes currently being written.

Doctor & Dalek Figure Sets - Wave 1

Character Options have revealed their second wave of Doctor Who Doctor & Daleks figure sets - exclusive to Toys R Us, read on for further details:

Highly detailed and realistic action figure collection that celebrates 50 years of Doctor Who. Each pack includes a fully poseable 5" Doctor and a free-wheeling Dalek from the same era that features moveable eye stalk and gun arm.

Second Doctor & Dalek from Evil of the Daleks
The First Doctor regenerated whilst battling the Cybermen during the events of The Tenth Planet and eventually collapsed, exhausted. His body renewed itself and transformed into the Second Doctor. The Second Doctor’s characteristics centred around his ability to mislead his enemies as to the actual threat he posed to their plans. The Second Doctor confronted many familiar foes such as the Daleks and the Cybermen, as well as new enemies such as the Great Intelligence and the Ice Warriors. The Second Doctor was put on trial by his own people, the Time Lords, for breaking their laws of non-interference.

Sixth Doctor & Dalek from Revelation of the Daleks
Loud, boastful and colourful, this extravagant Doctor hid his vulnerability and caring nature behind a seemingly pompous mask of alien disinterest. After once again being put on trial by the Time Lords, the Doctor’s Tardis was shot out of the skies by his old enemy, the Rani, and the subsequent crash triggered a regeneration…

Tenth Doctor & Dalek from The Stolen Earth/ Journey's End
The Tenth Doctor had a bright, sparky personality yet he rarely gave second chances to his foes. Leaping back into the Tardis with a series of extraordinary companions, he seemed the most vivacious Doctor so far. Following repeated battles with old foes and after a cataclysmic encounter with his own people, in the end this Doctor gave his own life to save that of  Wilfred Mott, absorbing radiation that would have proven fatal to his old friend. He was able to stave off the regeneration process long enough to bid farewell to his past companions and reach the safety of the Tardis, where the Doctor began to regenerate, alone...

All three figure sets are on sale from 7th June exclusively at Toys R Us stores priced £19.99 each.
