Series 7, Part 2 - Latest News

THE BELLS OF SAINT JOHN - LATEST PROMO IMAGE
The BBC have released the latest promotional image in anticipation for the premiere of part two of series seven of Doctor Who this Saturday.

DOCTOR WHO FEATURED ON COVER OF NEW RADIO TIMES
Doctor Who yet again is sported on the cover of Radio Times magazine, read on for further details from this week's edition:

Matt Smith responds to recent criticisms that there isn’t enough on-air content planned for the show’s 50th Anniversary and that the show has become too complex for children

“I think there’s only so much you can shoot. There’s a Christmas special and eight episodes, there’s the 50th anniversary, and on top of that you’ve got Mark Gatiss writing a script [An Adventure in Space and Time about Who’s origins]. There’s only so many you can make each year without compromising the quality.”

Plus Steven Moffat’s new series episode guide!
"The Doctor is a man of secrets. He’s been with us for nearly 50 years, but how little we know about him! Why did he set sail to see the universe in the first place? What happened to his family that sent him on his way? Even the show’s title is a reminder that he hasn’t got round to introducing himself yet…"

"Eight new episodes are coming your way right now. But before you even start, just remember this - the Doctor doesn’t tell you everything, and you might be in for a shock."

The Bells of Saint John
The Doctor returns to contemporary London and finds himself meeting Clara Oswald for the third time - he’s been searching the universe for her, but will she even know who he is? There’s hardly time to worry about it, though, because all humanity is in terrible danger…

Matt Smith
Observing Matt Smith as he throws shapes for the RT photographer, it’s clear there’s something different about the Doctor. It’s not just the wind machine rearranging his floppy locks nor comely new co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman at his side, but rather that he appears to have bulked up and broadened out.

Jenna-Louise Coleman
“Mine and Matt’s dynamic is challenging,” she says. “Matt describes it as a dance, but to me it’s such a ping-pongy kind of dynamic.” The 26-year-old, who’s dating Game of Thrones star Richard Madden (Robb Stark), believes that Smith is a bigger diva than herself: “He demands sweets at certain times of the day and Diet Coke in his trailer.”

The magazine, which also comes with a monster wall chart, is on sale from today at all good newsagents until 1st April priced £1.10 per copy.

Set in London against the backdrop of new and old iconic landmarks, the Shard and Westminster Bridge, The Bells of St John will also establish a new nemesis, the Spoonheads, who will battle the Doctor as he discovers something sinister is lurking in the Wi-Fi.

Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, said:

"It's the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what's going on! We're up in the sky and under the sea! We're running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There's new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the Tardis. And in the finale, the Doctor's greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn't already our most exciting year it would be anyway!"

Featuring a movie a week from a ghost story to an underwater siege to a period drama, the new series will also introduce new monsters, as well as bringing back fan favourites the Ice Warriors and Cybermen.

Meanwhile the series' stellar list of guest stars include: Celia Imrie; Richard E Grant; Warwick Davies, Jessica Raine; Dougray Scott and Tamzin Outhwaite, as well as for the first time on screen together, mother and daughter Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling.

Doctor Who returns this Spring to BBC One and BBC One HD.
